Bartlett High

• On Friday, join the Scats Gold Choir for a night of bowling, dinner, raffles and performances at "Rock-n-Roll Off" at Woodview Lanes, 11 Woodview Lane in Elgin. Tickets are $25 each or $50 per couple. The money raised will go toward the production of Bartlett High School's spring musical, "Beauty and the Beast."

Streamwood High

• On Tuesday, the Fall Athletics Banquet will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the Streamwood High School Commons, 701 W. Schaumburg Road.

Abbott

• On Tuesday, Parent University will present, "Passport to Success" from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Abbott Middle School, 949 Van St., Elgin. This session will offer parents and students an opportunity to explore community resources that will help lead them through middle and high school successfully. Admission is free and child care will be provided as well as dinner. Call Abbott at (847) 888-5160 to reserve your place at Parent University.

Ellis

• On Thursday and Friday, the eighth-graders at Ellis Middle School in Elgin will take a walking tour of historical eastside neighborhoods to study history, architecture, and culture.

Highland

• On Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon, students from Highland Elementary School in Elgin and their families can attend the new movie, "Bee Movie" at Marcus Theaters in Elgin. Tickets must be purchased in advance at the school.

Horizon

• Horizon Elementary School in Hanover Park is celebrating turning 30 this week.

At 8:30 a.m. Monday, Lifetouch will take an all-school photo. Students are being asked to wear orange and/or yellow. Photos may be purchased for $13. Proceeds from the picture sale will be used to purchase and install additional landscaping around the building.

Wednesday is Halloween. Students in kindergarten to fourth grade will parade through the building at 12:45 p.m. Fifth- and sixth-grade students will celebrate by roller-skating. Students can dress in 1970s-style clothing to mark the Horizon anniversary.

On Thursday, Grammy Award-winning musician and former Horizon student Frank Catalano will share his musical talent with the school. He is a Grammy Award Winning musician. His concerts are scheduled for 9 and 9:45 a.m. in the multi-purpose room.

On Friday, fifth- and sixth-grade students will showcase their talents for the entire student body.

Liberty

• On Thursday, the students at Liberty Elementary School in Bartlett will watch a magic show to promote drug/alcohol free lifestyles.

Spring Trail

• On Wednesday, the sixth-graders at Spring Trail Elementary School in Carol Stream will go bowling, while the fifth-graders will visit Naper Settlement in Naperville. The younger students will participate in a costume parade through the school, then participate in classroom parties.

Washington

• On Wednesday, the fourth- to sixth-grade students at Washington Elementary School in Elgin will go to Marcus Theaters in Elgin to see a movie. Parents are invited to watch students in kindergarten to third grade participate in a costume parade at 2 p.m.

Wayne Elementary

On Wednesday, parents are invited to watch their children in the Halloween parade at 12:30 p.m. at Wayne Elementary School.
