Briefs: Dist. 211 meeting moved
A reminder to District 211 residents that tonight's school board meeting has been moved to larger quarters in anticipation of a bigger-than-normal audience and a teacher picket. Schaumburg-Palatine High School District 211 has moved its meeting to Palatine High School, 1111 N. Rohlwing Road. Meetings usually take place at the McElroy Administration Center in Palatine. Teachers and the district have stalemated over contract talks, and the union has filed intent-to-strike papers and could set a strike date as early as Nov. 2.
$80,000 rings stolen
An employee of a Buffalo Grove nail salon was arrested Tuesday on charges of felony theft in connection with the disappearance of wedding and engagement rings worth $80,000. Kim Chi Tran, 24, worked at Nails and Spa Studio, 290 McHenry Road in Buffalo Grove. The victim said she went to the salon Monday to get a manicure and took off her rings. She forgot to take them with her, and when she returned, they were missing, police said. Tran eventually admitted that she took the rings, police said. Tran bonded out Tuesday on the theft charge.
Village wants wider Rt. 22
The Long Grove village board is planning on approving a resolution at the next meeting that will make it clear that the village is in favor of widening Route 22 between Quentin Road and Route 83. Village President Maria Rodriguez said at Tuesday's meeting that many residents have the misconception that the village doesn't support that widening. The Illinois Department of Transportation has recently widened other parts of Route 22, and that two-lane section continues to be a bottleneck. While IDOT has talked to the village in the past about the road, Village Manager David Lothspeich said the idea hasn't come up any time recently. Lothspeich will set up a meeting with IDOT to discuss the construction.
Fundraiser today for Jared

Jared, who has muscular dystrophy, has been in Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge for more than a month after an infection settled in his heart. The restaurant is at the northwest corner of Buffalo grove and Dundee roads. Hours are 6 a.m. to midnight daily. Call (847) 459-4095 for more information.
