Streamwood to hold 'lights on' version of haunted house

Halloween fun for kids: The Streamwood Park District's Trail of Terror continues to scare teens and adults every Friday and Saturday night through Halloween, but there are fun activities planned for younger kids as well.

A "lights on" version of the Trail of Terror will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Oct. 27. Actors in costume won't be jumping out to scare people, but will be greeting attendees at the Community Center at 777 Bartlett Road.

After going through the haunted house, young kids are invited to the gym to enjoy games, movies and a moonwalk. The cost is $4 for all ages, and hayrides are available for an additional $2 per person.

On Halloween itself, Safety Town at Hoosier Grove Park on Irving Park Road will welcome trick-or-treaters 8 and younger from 3 to 4:30 p.m.

All 13 Safety Town buildings will be distributing treats to kids in costume. There is no cost and no registration required.

The regular, scary version of Trail of Terror at the Community Center will run from 6 to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through Oct. 27. Admission is $5 for those 11 and younger and $8 for those 12 and older.

More Halloween fun: Young ghosts and goblins will take to the streets of Bartlett Oct. 27, when the Bartlett Lions Club holds "Spooktacular Sight Night."

Kids can vie for the best costume or best illumination award in a contest that gets under way at 7:15 p.m. at Western and Railroad avenues.

Downtown Bartlett's streetlights will then shut off for the third annual Sight Night Light Parade, which begins at 7:30 p.m. The parade route goes through the Town Center, continues to Devon Avenue and circles back to Western Avenue.

First, kick off the evening at 6:30 p.m. with warm refreshments at the intersection of Oak and Railroad avenues.

Local Lion and Bartlett Leos Club members will be collecting used eyeglasses. More than 300 pairs were donated last year. Go to www.bartlettlions.org.

Even more Halloween fun: The Hanover Park Park District will put on a Halloween event Oct. 27 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the community center, 1919 Walnut Ave.

All ages are invited to participate in a costume contest, mini pumpkin hunt, crafts and creepy games.

The cost for kids is $4 in advance and $6 at the door. Parents get in for free. Registration is requested. Visit www.hpparks.org for more information.
