Search continues for missing Wood Dale man

Wood Dale police today are continuing their search for 72-year-old man missing from the local apartment he shares with his daughter.

Deputy Police Chief Greg Vesta said Armando Monarrez left his home and was last seen Saturday night on foot in Bensenville, near the intersection of York Road and Green Street.

"The person that saw him knew him but, unfortunately, didn't know he was missing at the time," Vesta said this morning.

Monarrez is 5 foot 3 inches tall and weighs about 160 lbs. He has gray hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a black hat, a red and gray jacket and blue pants. He was wearing an identification tag on his wrist.

Vesta said Monarrez gets disoriented easily and has gone missing twice before.

Police today are planning to hand delivering fliers to local hospitals and businesses. Officers also are planning to search rail yards between Wood Dale and Franklin Park.

"He used to live and work in Franklin Park," Vesta said. "That's where he's attempted to get to the last two times he's gone missing."

Anyone with information should contact Wood Dale police at (630)766-2060.
