Last chance to sign on for Halloween tourney

Today is the deadline to register a team for the National Amateur Dodgeball Association's "Great Pumpkin" Halloween Tournament in Schaumburg.

The event will be held Oct. 20 at the Sport Center, 1141 W. Irving Park Road.

Winning teams are eligible for cash awards and paid bids to the indoor National Championships in January. Registration costs $120 per team.

Making this particular tournament unique, teams are encouraged to dress up in the Halloween spirit, with prizes awarded for the most original uniforms.

Teams consist of a maximum of 10 players, with six competing at any one time.

NADA officials supervise all games. Check-in begins at 9 a.m. and matches start at 11 a.m.

Teams may participate in men's, women's or co-rec divisions and participants must be at least 16 years old.

Teen concert:Œ Spectrum Youth and Family Services of Schaumburg Township and the Vogelei Teen Center will sponsor a teen concert featuring four local metal and alternative rock bands from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Oct. 26.

The featured bands will be Uptown Elevation, The Conspiracy Kill, The Funeral Portrait and one more band to be announced.

The concert will be held at the Spectrum Teen Center in Schaumburg Township Hall, 1 Illinois Blvd., Hoffman Estates.

The cost will be $3 at the door.

'Joseph' tickets on sale: Tickets went on sale this week for the Schaumburg Park District Actor's Studio Theater's production of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" Nov. 23-25 and Dec. 3-4.

This family-friendly musical features universal themes, rousing action and memorable songs by Andrew Lloyd Weber.

The shows will be staged at the Community Recreation Center, 505 N. Springinsguth Road, Schaumburg.

Tickets are being sold at the CRC's north registration counter. The cost is $11 for adults and $6 for children age 12 and younger.

Show times are 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 23, 24 and Dec. 3 and 2 p.m. Nov. 25 and Dec. 4.

Library programs: Registered dietitian Kris Flanigan will present "Healthy Snacks and Meals" from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Monday in the Rasmussen South Room of the Schaumburg Township District Library, 130 S. Roselle Road, Schaumburg.

Adults will learn how to make a variety of creative crafts in "Crafting With Your Computer" from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Rasmussen North Room.

Attendees will learn to use a computer, scanner, digital camera and inkjet printer for some great crafting projects. Library staff will demonstrate several craft projects using PrintMaster Platinum17.
