Barrington Woman's Club luncheon: Today is the deadline to register for the Barrington Woman's Club's card and game day luncheon being held Wednesday, to support the club's philanthropy. Registration and continental breakfast begin at 9:30 a.m., at the Inverness Golf Club, 102 N. Roselle Road, Inverness. Luncheon served at noon. $45 per person, reservations required. Palatine Jaycees: The Palatine Jaycees Hometown Haunt haunted house will open its doors today at 6 p.m. in the Sears Essentials lot, Northwest Highway and Hicks Road, Palatine. Parents, Families & Friends of Lesbians and Gays: Julie Meridith Davis, a doctoral candidate at Illinois State University in psychology, will speak on the "Generational Differences in Coming Out," from 7-9 p.m. Monday, when the Parents, Families & Friends of Lesbians and Gays meets at Countryside Unitarian Universalist Church, 1025 N. Green Thumbs of Barrington Garden Club: Members of the Green Thumbs of Barrington Garden Club will gather at 12:30 p.m. Monday at the Barrington Area Library to create ornaments for its Christmas tree. Barrington Chapter National Daughters of the American Revolution: The Barrington Chapter of the National Daughters of the American Revolution will host a genealogy workshop from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 3, at the Barrington Library, 505 N. Northwest Highway, Barrington. Kristen Smith, reference librarian from the Algonquin Area Library will present, "How Do I Begin?" -- an introduction to the basics of genealogical research.
