Mt. Prospect Fire girls power through tourney

At the Gold Medal Tournament in Carol Stream, the Mount Prospect Fire girls fastpitch softball teams were in the championship games in all age groups, winning three of four titles.
10U Red team: Managed by Dan Gadow, the 10U team won a close game in the championship against the host Carol Stream 13-12. The team was lead by the pitching of Emma Meersman and Deanna Kuzmanic, as well as the defense and hitting of shortstop Quinn Stafford, first baseman Meghan Doyle, second baseman Leanne Gadow, and catcher Molly Muhs. The team put it all together after a strong second place showing the previous week in the Streamwood Summer Slam Tournament.
12U: Managed by Bob Iovino, the 12U team went 3-0 in pool play outscoring opponents by a combined total of 46-14. They also won both playoff games by convincing margins to capture the 12U championship. The team was lead by the pitching of Melanie Jarosz, Celina Wlodarski, Jill Sadowski, and Kelli Iovino. The 12U team also finished the year with third place finishes in both the Streamwood and Burr Ridge tournaments.
14U: Managed by Mike Naranjo, the 14U team went undefeated for the second tournament in a row. They defeated the HYBC team from Lombard in the championship game by a score of 11-4. The team was lead by the pitching of Amanda Schuck (4-0) and Mary Styzek (1-0), as well as the defense and hitting of third baseman Paige Thornton, center fielder Emily Jarosz, catcher Nicole Naranjo, and shortstop Gina Wlodarski. This championship follows a dominating performance in the Streamwood Summer Slam tournament the week before when the 14U team went 6-0, outscoring opponents by combined scores of 76-25.
16U: Managed by Brian Jarosz, the 16U team fell in the finals to the Hampshire Purple Haze team. The second place finish ended a successful season for the 16U team. The previous week in Rockford, the 16U girls captured the USSSA State Championship with a convincing win over Carol Stream in the finals. The team was lead by Kim Jarosz, Kelsey Prochenski, Kayti Nowak, and Kaila Walter.
