Meet Crystal Lake firefighters during open house
Crystal Lake Fire/Rescue Department will host an open house from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at 100 W. Municipal Complex, Woodstock Street and Walkup Avenue.
The open house marks the end of National Fire Prevention Week by offering residents the opportunity to meet and talk with the firefighters.
Demonstrations of specialized firefighting and rescue equipment will be offered and fire department vehicles will be on hand for all to see up close.
The Fire Safety House will show you how to conduct fire drills in your home. Vintage fire engines will be on display and an automobile airbag demonstration will be held. A "live" fire demonstration will show how fast fire can spread.
Residents are invited to bring their families to this event to learn more about fire safety. Refreshments, handouts and activities for the children will make this a very special and enjoyable day.
This year's fire safety theme is "Practice Your Escape Plan."
Everyone should have an escape plan in case of fire. Take time to visit the Crystal Lake Fire/Rescue Department for some fun and "Learn not to Burn."
