Lake Zurich's volleyball team won the championship of its own tournament Saturday.

The Bears (21-5) defeated Deerfield, Rolling Meadows and Carmel in pool play, before beating Fenwick in the semifinals. Lake Zurich and Carmel had a rematch for the title, and the Bears came through with a 25-19, 25-23 victory.

Sara Drury and Crystal Wright had 6 and 4 kills, respectively, in the final for Lake Zurich, while Lisa Butzen contributed 3 solo blocks. Lydia Bauer added 11 assists and 3 kills.

For the tournament, Wright led the Bears with 35 kills and 44 digs in the five matches. Melissa Miehlke served 8 aces. Jen Grunden totaled 19 kills and 42 digs.

At Glenbrook North: Libertyville went 3-2 to finish seventh.
