Baseball
Players wanted: The Sports Academy Northwest, 355 Hastings Drive, Buffalo Grove, is seeking players for its 13-year-old travel team.
The team will train twice a week beginning Dec. 1 at the indoor, turfed complex. Players and parents are also welcome to attend the Parent/Player Meeting at 2 p.m. Sunday at The Sports Academy to meet the professional staff and other travel team participants.
The team is trained by non-parent, experienced coaches. Once practices begin, all TSA players can use unscheduled cages or pitching areas. The team plays approximately 55 games during the spring/summer season.

Cougars tryouts: Tryouts for Vernon Hills Lady Cougars Feeder Basketball, for students in fifth through eighth grades, will take place from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Vernon Hills High School, 145 N. Hooked on Hoops: Hooked on Hoops, a youth basketball club, will hold its Fall Wednesday sessions from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today and Oct. 10, 17, 24 and 31 at Fremont Middle School on Fremont Center Road, west of Mundelein. Boys and girls of all ages and all school districts are welcome to attend.
The emphasis of the camp is skills development. Players will learn the fundamental and advanced skills of ball-handling, passing, dribbling and shooting.
The fee for the Wednesday sessions is $60, and sign up is on the first day of attending camp. Players should bring their own basketball.

Football
Flames victory: In the Barrington Tri-County Youth Football League BIG 10-Middleweight Division, the Lake Zurich Flames came away with a 28-26 double overtime victory against the Barrington Broncos.
With 1:20 remaining in the fourth quarter, Barrington scored to go ahead by 6 points. In the next play, Lake Zurich's Camden Kuksa returned the kick off and ran 80 yards to tie the game with 1:11 left.
In double overtime, Barrington was the first to put points on the board, making the score Barrington 26, Lake Zurich 20. The Flames quarterback, Charlie Spatoulas, threw a 15-yard pass into the end zone to Kuksa, and A.J. Trittschuh scored the winning extra points.
Interceptions were made by Kuksa and Jack Boliaux, and fumble recoveries by Tony Anagnostopoulos and Kuksa.
Quarterbacks Steve Demmert and Boliaux added to yardage on the ground. Lake Zurich's offensive unit, made up of James DeGeorge, Noah Eszak, Noah Allgood, Trittschuh, Colton Wagner, Anthony Tinaglia, Luke Yankoe, Gil Juarez, Brandon Arteaga, Brett Blum and Mitchell Zovnic, opened holes in Barrington's defense.
Kuksa, Demmert, Boliaux and Spatoulas combined with runs for a total gain of 240 yards. Wagner sacked the quarterback adding to the three turnovers by Lake Zurich's defense of Vinny LoVerde, Demmert, DeGeorge, Anagnostopoulos, Tinaglia, Spatoulas, Juarez, Blum, Kuksa and Boliaux.
The team is coached by Guy Boliaux, along with Dan Kuksa, offensive coordinator, and assistant coaches Marc Allgood, John Wagner and Ron Ezsak.
Volleyball
