A must-read when considering abortion

The Sept. 19 letter to the Fence Post by Jeff Biss, regarding the proposed Planned Parenthood clinic, is incomplete.

There are as many different pro-life folks as there are in the pro-choice crowd. A small minority believe in unlimited abortion; right into the ninth month. Some believe the first 12 weeks. Others feel that being raped gives one the moral right to abort the conception. Some believe that a malformed baby/fetus should be aborted.

From these examples, one can extrapolate a hundred more situations. On the pro-life side it can start with the belief of life at the time of conception.

A largely pictorial book, written by Swedish Emmy Award winner Dr. Lennart Nilsson, called "A Child is Born" (1990), shows the incremental development of a child/fetus from almost the instant of conception to birth. At the time of its initial publication, Nilsson was accused of faking the in-vitro photos because they made many people uncomfortable in their detail.

When talking with my friends, I hear many different versions of "pro-life". Many are pro-life but. But, if the girl is only 12 years old? But, if pregnant when one is 50 years old? But, what if it tests for some terrible malformation? But, what if the mother is severely mentally disturbed? Just as many variations as the pro-choice people.

What tends to bother me is people are making choices of life and death without ever being shown what they are doing. You never hear of someone seeking an abortion getting a second opinion. "A Child is Born" is not a pro-anything book; just an award- winning photo document of the beginning of human life. Sadly, you won't find it in any doctor's waiting room or any Planned Parenthood clinic. Shouldn't one be given the information necessary to be able to wisely choose?
