South Elgin shows tennis love with first tournament win
The girls tennis team at South Elgin High School scored the school's first top finish in a tennis tournament this month.
At the Glenbard North Quad Tennis tournament on Sept. 22, the team won first place, the first tournament win in the school's brief athletic history.
Participating high schools in the tournament were Glenbard North, South Elgin, West Chicago, and Wheaton Christian Academy.
South Elgin took first place on strong singles play and by winning the last four matches in singles and doubles.
Lauren Ferry took first in the No. 1 singles bracket by going 3-0.
Dana Hildebrandt took first in the No. 2 singles bracket, also going 3-0.
Brittany Boelter and Nessa Saengyothinh came in with a 2-1 record in No. 1 doubles, and Lauren Mehr and Meagan Diede rebounded in their last match with a victory to come in at 1-2 in No. 2 doubles.
