Concert series resumes with 'Rags to Riches' theme
The Second Sunday Concert Series at McHenry County College begins its 2007-2008 season at 3 p.m. Oct. 14 featuring Chicago-area-based Old Dominion Brass Quintet.
The concert theme "From Rags to Riches" will feature a wide variety of music, including Mozart, Broadway, Sinatra and symphony.
The concert will take place in the MCC Conference Center, 8900 Route 14, Crystal Lake.
The following Second Sunday and other MCC concerts are at 3 p.m. unless otherwise noted.
Nov. 11, Brian Torosian, classical guitarist
Nov. 14, MCC Music Department Fall Concert at 7 p.m. on this Wednesday, featuring the MCC Performing Ensembles
Dec. 2, Handel's "Messiah" (first Sunday, 4 p.m.) at the Raue Center, 26 N. Williams Street, Crystal Lake, featuring the MCC Choir and Voices in Harmony. Tickets are available for $18 and $15 by calling (815) 356-9212;
Jan. 13, 2008, Phil Cooper, Margaret Nelson and Kate Early, folk musicians

March 9, Winds Off The Lake, woodwind quintet;
March 13, St. Patrick's Concert (Thursday, 7 p.m.) featuring Pat Gaughan and LJ Slavin
April 13, MCC Music Department Spring Concert featuring MCC Performing Ensembles
May 3 (first Sunday) Sessions Jazz Quartet.
All concerts are free and open to the public. A reception follows each Sunday concert.
