Katrina volunteer shares experiences

Hurricane Katrina Revisited will be the slide presentation at 7 p.m. today at Itasca Community Library, 500 W. Irving Park Road, Itasca. Maj. Bob Williams of the Civil Air Patrol will be the presenter. Williams deployed to Hancock, Miss., seven days after Katrina struck. Registration is required. For details, call (630) 773-1699.

Library to preview new adult fiction

District 12 to offer a free screening

A free preschool screening will be offered by Roselle School District 12 from 8:45 a.m. to 3:05 p.m. Thursday at Spring Hills School, 560 S. Pinecroft, Roselle.

The purpose of the screening is to identify preschool children who may need special medical or educational assistance before they enter kindergarten.

Donate care items for our soldiers

Residents of Alden Springs Intermediate Care Facility for Developmentally Disabled Adults in Bloomingdale are collecting cards of encouragement, snack food items, toiletries, clothing and other items to send to a platoon of 18 soldiers they've adopted in Iraq.

Classic car show to be in Roselle

Roselle Main Street Cruise Nights classic car show continues on Main Street between Prospect Avenue and Roselle Road in Roselle. Classic cars will line Main Street from 6 to 9 p.m. Fridays until Oct. 19.

Itasca fitness club to hold run, walk

Goality Fitness Club in Itasca will host a 5K Fun Run/2K Fitness Walk to benefit the Children's Advocacy Center in Hoffman Estates. The event will take place at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Spring Creek Reservoir in Bloomingdale. Theater troupe to stage production

Overshadowed Theatrical Productions, a Christian, nonprofit theater company in Itasca, will present "The Devil & Daniel Webster" at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and Oct. 4-6. A matinee performance will be at 2 p.m. Oct. 6.
