McHenry County College to offer new decorating courses

McHenry County College will offer two new interior decorating courses that can help make any home more beautiful, welcoming and expressive.

Your home reflects who you are and what you like. "Find Your 'Home' Style" is intended to help people identify their own style and develop their taste in color and design. This hands-on course will give people the skills to make a home truly one's own.

The class meets twice, from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Oct. 3. The cost of the course is $39. Use course ID NHG S26 009 when registering.

The "Interior Design: Help Your Home" is a class that will explore color, window treatment options and more creative ideas to beautify a home. Participants will use their own floor plans and plenty of imagination to discover how to make the most of their living space. The instructor will give useful information on how to deal with problem areas and decorating challenges.

This class meets from 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 24. The cost of the class is $19. Use course ID NHG S25 010 when registering.

Both classes will be held at the Decorator Nook in Crystal Lake, 64 N. Williams St. and taught by owner Barbara Potter. She a licensed interior decorator and has previously designed homes on the Chicago Tribune Parade of Homes as well as the Service League Parade of Homes. A pictorial feature of her design work on a Crystal Lake home will appear in Home to Home magazine in October.
