McHenry history group to meet Tuesday

The Joint Council of Historic Groups will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Administrative Building of the McHenry County Government Center on Ware Road, Woodstock.

The semi-annual meeting will be in Conference Room A. Meetings are open to the public.

Members of the joint council, an informal local history/preservation group, network and share information about protecting and preserving local historical sites, provide information on area history and explore places not generally open to the public.

Each May McHenry County celebrates "Look at Local History Month" in conjunction with the National Trust's Historic Preservation month. House and cemetery walks, scavenger hunts, lectures and museum openings are organized by the joint council.
