Golf
Hole-in-one: Jeff Memett of Lake in the Hills hit a hole-in-one at Snow Snake Golf Course in Harrison, Mich. Sept. 7. Memett accomplished the feat using a pitching wedge on the 104-yard hole No. 2 while teeing off the white tee.
Fundraisers
Elgin Booster Club events: The Elgin High School Booster Club will host a "post-game gathering" today at Rolling Knolls Country Club in Elgin immediately following the homecoming football game. All are welcome. The first 20 people there will receive a gift.
On Oct. 27, the "E" Booster Club presents "Booster Bonanza III -- Masquerade," a silent auction and buffet dinner from 7 to 11:30 p.m. at the Rolling Knolls Country Club in Elgin. Costumes are optional. Proceeds benefit all Elgin High School athletes. For ticket information or to donate items, call (630) 939-8064.
Raffle for wrestling: The South Elgin High School Booster Foundation Wrestling Activity Group is raffling off a new 2008 Ford Mustang from Joe Cotton Ford.
Raffle tickets for $10 can be purchased through Oct. 29. Booster club volunteers will be selling raffle tickets at home football games. The drawing will be at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 29 in the high school commons prior to the fall sports awards.

Swimming
Elgin Pelicans registration: The Elgin Pelicans Swim Team will hold registration for the upcoming 2007-08 season in September.
All returning traditional or new traditional swimmers in the Novice, Green and Gold groups will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday or Oct. 1 at the Taylor YMCA, 50 N. McLean Blvd., Elgin. Registration forms can be found and printed out from the Web site www.elginpelicans.org.
All new swimmers should bring a suit, towel and goggles and be expected to swim a few lengths of the pool for proper group placing. All swimmers must be Taylor YMCA members. Memberships can be purchased any time online at www.elginymca.org or by stopping at the YMCA.

Baseball/softball
CDBL travel team tryouts: The Central District Baseball League will hold tryouts for the 11-U, 13-U and 14-U Travel Teams in September.
Tryouts for the 11-U Travel Team will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Plato Field No. 1. This is for players who will not turn 12 years old prior to April 1, 2008.
The tryouts for the 13-U Travel Team will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Stonecrest Field No. 3. This is for 13-U players who will not turn 14 years old prior to April 1, 2008.
The tryouts for 14-U Travel Team will be at 4 p.m. Sept. 23 at Stonecrest Field No. 3. This is for 14-U players who will not turn 15 years old prior to April 1, 2008.

South Elgin Cyclones: The South Elgin Cyclones are looking for players to join the 2008 13-U team.
The Cyclones are a travel program that recently competed in the USSSA 12-U World Series in Hutchinson, Kan., and, for the second year in a row, finished in the top 50 teams. The team is currently ranked fourth in the state.
Members of the team who played in the 2007 World Series include: Tyler Ciancio, Jacob Hicks, Nevan Jeske, Timmy Misner, Jake Metoyer, David Palmer, Devyn Reese, Tyler Thorson, and Alex Wolfe.

Volleyball
Fall camps: Sky High Volleyball will hold "Volleykids," a fall camp for those in fourth to eighth grades Sundays, Oct. 7 to Dec. 16, at the following locations.
• Sixth to eighth grades: 7 to 8:30 p.m., Libertyville, and 6 to 7:30 p.m., Prairie Stone
• Fourth to eighth grade: 6 to 7:30 p.m., Crystal Lake.
The cost is $120 per athlete for the 10-week sessions, which includes 15 hours of instruction. Athletes are split into separate groups based on ability and receive a complimentary T-shirt.
Sky High provides all the coaches. Each week athletes receive one hour of on-court instruction and 30 minutes of game-like situations.

Wrestling
Grapplers registration: The Kane County Grapplers, in cooperation with South Elgin and Elgin high schools, will continue registration for its 2007-08 wrestling season.
Registration dates include: 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 7 in the South Room of the Bartlett Public Library, 800 S. Bartlett Road; 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 20 at Elgin High School, 1475 Larkin Ave.; Elgin, and South Elgin High School, 760 E. Main St.; and 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 21 in the lobby of The Centre of Elgin, 100 Symphony Way.
The wrestling season will be November through March. Bring a copy of the birth certificate and checks to cover fees. Registration is $125. Registration forms will need to be filled out at the time of registration.
The Kane County Grapplers is part of the IKWF Illinois Kids Wrestling Federation and is a program for children in kindergarten through eighth grade who want to learn wrestling skills through a fun and competitive program.
