Stone City agility trials set for Sept. 29 in New Lenox

Entry deadline: Car-Dun-Al Obedience Dog Training Club has set Oct. 3 as the deadline to enter its Oct. 20-21 Agility Trials held at Boone County Fairgrounds, Belvidere. • District 214 Community Education has a one-session class, "Animal Whispering," from 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 18. The class is about connecting with your dog using verbal and non-verbal skills. The class number is 5400 and will be held in Room 130 at Prospect High School, 801 W. Kensington Road, Mount Prospect.

• Another one-session class, "Animal Assisted Therapy," will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon Oct. 20 in the south gym at Forest View Education Center, 2121 S. Goebbert Road, Arlington Heights. Dog tests: Northwest Obedience Club will hold Tracking Tests Excellent the morning of Sept. 30 at Burnidge Forest Preserve and Paul Wolff Campgrounds, at Big Timber and Coombs roads in Elgin.

• Glenbard All-Breed Obedience Club also will hold Variable Surface Tracking Tests the morning of Sept. 30 on the grounds of Northern Illinois University, Lincoln Highway and Annie Glidden Road, DeKalb.

Pet contest/bake sale: Four Paws Animal Foundation is sponsoring a Pet Contest and Bake Sale Oct. 6 in conjunction with Streamwood Park District's Pumpkin Fest. It will be held in Hoosier Grove Park, on Irving Park Road east of Route 59. Registration is 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with judging of the pet contest starting at 1 p.m. for a donation of $1 for each category.

Fundraiser: Rainbow Animal Assisted Therapy began its 20th year in a place of its own at 6042 W. Oakton St. in Morton Grove; however, funds are needed to help pay the rent to continue helping countless children and adults with the aid of trained canines.

The fundraiser is a 50/50 raffle at $1 per ticket. The drawing will be held at the group's 20th anniversary celebration on Oct. 19, which is its first gala benefit fundraiser. For the location or details, call (773) 283-1129 or visit www.rainbowaat.org.

This group has 160 members operating 80 programs throughout the entire area to help individuals improve their motor, language, cognitive, social, behavioral and attention skills and more. There are various sessions of introduction to the AAT classes. One is at K-9 Playtime Inc., 403 Washington Blvd., Unit 1, in Mundelein, where a class will start Sept. 29. Registration is required.
