Briefs: School bus accident

A Community Unit District 300 bus was involved in a minor traffic accident Tuesday afternoon at Route 72 and Galligan Road in Gilberts, district officials said. The bus was dropping off preschool students from Gary D. Wright Elementary when it got in what district officials described as a fender bender. Kane County sheriff's police were called to the scene as a precaution, and the parents of the five children on board were notified. The children were taken home on a replacement bus. The accident caused minor damage to the bus.

Join Dundee 5K, 10K

Sign up now for Sunday's Dundee Road Race. The 5K walk/run and 10K run start at 8 a.m. with the Kids' Dash at 9 a.m. starting on River Street in downtown East Dundee. Volunteers are needed to direct runners along the course. You must be at least 16 years old. Each volunteer will receive a Dundee Road Race T-shirt, refreshments and an entry into the raffle. Volunteers are needed for about two hours. The top male and female overall winner of the 10K will win running shoes. This year's event will benefit the Illinois Torch Run for Special Olympics.
