Saxons, Fillies stay tied for first in MSL West

Schaumburg and Barrington remained in a tie for first place in the Mid-Suburban West girls volleyball standings.

The host Saxons (7-2, 3-0) received 8 kills from senior Gabrielle Blackwell, 5 from senior Drewann Pancratz and 3 from junior Monica Sanchez en route to a 25-16, 25-13 victory over visiting Conant (5-5, 1-2).

Pancratz handed out 14 assists and had a team-high 11 digs while Sanchez had 7 and senior Heather Bolger 5.

In a 25-20, 25-18 victory over Palatine, visiting Barrington (4-12, 3-0) was led on attack by Kelly Pickering (5 kills), Kristin Soderman (4) and Lizzie Farr (4) while Madeline Root collected 9 assists.

Paige Czarnecki had 2 aces and 11 digs.

Kate Kleiva (6 kills) and Kaitlyn Hofeldt (5) led the attack for Palatine (0-10, 0-3).

Elk Grove d. Wheeling: Anie Fitzpatrick (5 kills), Krystina Leazer (4) and Katie Spychala (3) led visiting Elk Grove (6-5, 2-1) in 13-25, 28-26, 25-21 MSL East victory.

Megan Maize had 15 digs and Spychala 13.

Kelsey Prochenski served collected 11 assists and Jessica Condon 9

Janelle Schroeder handed out 15 assists for Wheeling (5-6, 0-3), which was led on attack by Lidia Villalobos (7 kills) and Lindsey Mills (5).

Meadows d. Buffalo Grove: Dana Demmert (14 kills), Jenna Milas (8), Jackie Carbery (5) and Katie Stensland (4) led the host Rolling Meadows attack in a 25-14, 23-25, 25-15 victory.

Kim Liwag (13 assists) and Marisa Barry (11) handled the setting duties for Meadows (5-6, 2-1).

Lauren Angotti (10 kills) and Emily Nowicki (7) led the Bison (0-3).

Carmel d. St. Viator:ΠCarmel stopped the Lions 25-13, 25-13 as St. Viator (2-6) was led on attack by seniors Kristen Guth and Cara George with 3 kills apiece in the East Suburban Catholic Conference.

Classmate Daniela Presta handed out 6 assists for the host Lions.
