Haws, Mach lead Libertyville victory

Libertyville outlasted Rolling Meadows 25-16, 24-26, 25-13 in a nonconference match to move to 4-1 on the season.

Ali Haws and Emma Mach each tallied 11 kills and 3 blocks for the host Wildcats.

Setter Erin DeMarco had 36 assists.

Lake Forest d. Lakes: Lakes opened strong, but didn't finish that way in a 25-23, 22-25, 14-25 loss to Lake Forest.

The Eagles, who dropped to 1-8, missed 9 serves. They were led by Katie Thompson, who had 2 kills, 4 digs and 2 aces.

Boys soccer

Round Lake 1, Grayslake North 0: Round Lake won its season opener on a David Tellez goal in the first half.

Caesar Garcia was credited with the assist, while goalie Jose Landa recorded 7 saves for the Panthers (1-0).

Grayslake North dropped to 7-2 on the season.

St. Patrick 1, Vernon Hills 0: In a game that was tied 0-0 at the end of regulation, St. Patrick got the win by earning a 5-4 advantage in penalty kicks.

Girls swimming

Conant d. Vernon Hills: In a nonconference dual meet, Conant edged Vernon Hills 97-89 despite a solid meet from Melanie Rowland.

Rowland pulled in four first places for the Cougars.

She was on the winning 200 yard medley relay team and the 400 yard freestyle relay team. Meanwhile, she took first place in the 200-yard freestyle and the 100-butterfly.

Boys golf

Warren d. Antioch: At Spring Valley, Warren got a 153-185 victory over Antioch.

Derrick Lindelof and Taylor Furmanski of Warren were the medalists. They each finished with a 36.

Antioch's top finisher was Scott Holley with a 43.

Lakes d. Grant: At Antioch Golf Club, Lakes got a 173-196 victory over Grant.

Jon Schultz, Colin Drayton and Tyler Boardway each finished with a 43 for Lakes.

Grant's top finisher was Adam Ticker with a 47.

Boys cross country

Lakes d. Round Lake: Lakes took the first seven places to defeat Round Lake 15-86.

B.J. Fuller led the way. He won the meet with a 17:29.9.

Scott Pacelt was Round Lake's top finisher. He placed eighth with a 18:22.7.

Lake Zurich d. Libertyville: Mickey Stott and three of his teammates claimed the top four spots as Lake Zurich defeated Libertyville 17-42.

Stott won the race with a 16:51.

Bahrani wins: Moe Barahni of Vernon Hills took first place in a meet that also involved Wauconda and Antioch.

Barahni finished the race in 16:27. He was followed by teammate Max Condocia (16:54).

Girls cross country

Libertyville d. Lake Zurich: The top seven finishers all came from Libertyville in a 15-50 victory.

Hannah Reilly led the way, placing first with a 19;14.

College golf

Robert Morris wins: Led by some Lake County natives, Robert Morris has won its last two tournaments, including the St. Joseph College Invite in Indiana on Monday.

Chris Myer of Zion-Benton was a co-medalist with a 73.

Round Lake's Herving Sanchez shot a 78.

Last week, Robert Morris took first place in a 15-team tournament hosted by the College of DuPage.

Antioch's Tony DiPersio finished in the top 10 with a 77.

CLC finishes 10th: CLC finished 10th out of 18 teams at the Illinois State Competition Invite in Bloomington.

Kevin Shimer led the way wit a 154 over 36 holes.

College soccer

CLC 4, Moraine Valley 0: Thanks to 2 goals and an assist from Ally Yarc, CLC improved its record to 5-2 on the season.

Ingrid Johnson of the Lancers scored her first goal of the season.
