Movin' On: Movin' On, a nondenominational social group providing welcoming social situations for widowed men and women in the Northwest suburbs, will meet at 3 p.m. today at the Terrace Café at Arlington Race Track. Admission and program $6. Call Nina at (847) 806-7292 for reservations.

New Beginnings: The Ministry of New Beginnings, part of the Phoenix Group, is a 30-year old Catholic oriented non-denominational social support organization for the separated, divorced, widowed and single persons. Meetings are held every Monday (except holidays) at 7:30 p.m. in the lower level of Trinity Lutheran Church, 405 Rush St., Roselle. Donation is $3 per meeting. September events include:

Democratic Party conference: The Wheeling, Palatine, New Trier and Northfield Township Democrats will host a Democratic Party conference on Grassroots Democracy and Winning Elections at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, at Chevy Chase Country Club, 1000 N. Milwaukee Ave., Wheeling. Special guests will be Senator Richard Durbin, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky and Cook County Commissioner Forrest Claypool. $12 includes box lunch and drink. Crochet Guild of America: The Northern Illinois Chapter of the Crochet Guild of America will hold its monthly meeting from 1:30-4:40 p.m. Saturday, at the Rolling Meadows Library, 3110 Martin Lane, Rolling Meadows.
