New Beginnings: The Ministry of New Beginnings, part of the Phoenix Group, is a 30-year old Catholic oriented non-denominational social support organization for the separated, divorced, widowed and single people. Meetings are held every Monday (except holidays) at 7:30 p.m. in the lower level of Trinity Lutheran Church, 405 Rush St., Roselle. Donation is $3 per meeting. September events include:

Crochet Guild of America: The Northern Illinois Chapter of the Crochet Guild of America will hold its monthly meeting from 1:30 to 4:40 p.m. Saturday at the Rolling Meadows Library, 3110 Martin Lane, Rolling Meadows. Lake Shore African Violet Society: "Once Upon a Violet" is the theme of the show and sale being sponsored by the Lake Shore African Violet Society from noon to 4:30 p.m. Sept. 22 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept 23 at the Chicago Botanic Garden, Glencoe.
