Algonquin
• A Huntley man was accused of drunken driving at 3:15 a.m. Sunday at Bunker Hill and Randall roads, police said. Edward C. Burns, 68, of 13609 Winterbury, was cited for two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane use, police said. He was released after posting a $100 bond and his driver's license. His next court date is in Oct. 10 in Woodstock.
Carpentersville
• A Carpentersville man was picked up by Carpentersville police Sunday at the Tazewell County jail, police said. Johnnathan T. Smith, 27, of 406 Amarillo Court, Carpentersville, was charged with aggravated battery and domestic battery connected to the beating of a woman in Carpentersville, police said. Smith was being held in the Kane County jail on $1,500 bond with a Sept. 20 court date at the Kane County Judicial Center.
• Five gunshots were reported at 8:15 p.m. Sunday on the 4000 block of Berkshire Court.
East Dundee
• An East Dundee man was accused of drunken driving at 11 p.m. Saturday on the 600 block of Braeburn Road, police said. Donald K. Perkins, 47, of 17 Guth St., was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said. He was released with a Sept. 20 court date at the Kane County Judicial Center.
Kane County
• Two people were taken to Sherman Hospital in Elgin after a motorcycle crash on Route 31 and Country School Road in Dundee Township at 2:09 p.m. Sunday. Kurt D. Grantham, 45, and Kerri L. Grantham, 40, both of 701 Harrison St., Algonquin, were taken to the hospital after their motorcycle left the road, throwing off both of them, police said.
• Three people were taken to Kishwaukee Community Hospital after a one-car crash at McGough and Middleton roads in Burlington Township at 1:20 a.m. Sunday. A car driven by Bryan R. Schultz, 21, of 41W540 Greenfield Road, Elgin, hit an embankment and flipped onto its side in a nearby cornfield. Schultz and his passengers, Glenn R. Wellendorf, 20, of 11N530 McGough Road, Hampshire; and Colt A. Strissel, 20, 48W689 Romin Road, Maple Park, all were taken to the hospital. Schultz was charged with DUI and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, police said.
Sleepy Hollow
• Seven mailboxes were damaged early Saturday: Two on the 700 block of Jamestowne Road; two on the 200 block of Jamestowne Road; one on the 100 block of Hilltop Lane, one on the 200 block of Hilltop Lane; and one on the 1000 block of Beau Brummel Drive.
South Elgin
• A Glendale Heights man was detained at 8:30 a.m. Thursday after he gave officers a false birth date, police said. Efren Arrecis, 19, of 100 Stevenson, was charged with obstruction of justice, police said. Arrecis, a native of Guatemala and a reputed street gang member, was unable to post a $400 bond and was taken to the Kane County jail.
