Joe Lessman Division of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society: A meeting of the Joe Lessman Division of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society will be held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, at the Oakton Community Center, 4701 Oakton St., Skokie. Pizza, tossed salad and pop, along with cake and coffee will be served. Donation $5. (800) FIGHT MS.

New Beginnings: The Ministry of New Beginnings, part of the Phoenix Group, is a 30-year old Catholic oriented non-denominational social support organization for the separated, divorced, widowed and single persons. Meetings are held every Monday (except holidays) at 7:30 p.m. in the lower level of Trinity Lutheran Church, 405 Rush St., Roselle. Donation is $3 per meeting. September events include:

•Schaumburg Fest fireworks: 7 p.m. Saturday, yard of Carol Galat. R.S.V.P. to Carol at (847) 524-1397. Bring a chair, a snack to share and your favorite beverage.

•Labor Day picnic: 11 a.m., Monday, Tyler Creek Forest Preserve, Route 31, south of I90 in Elgin. The club will provide hot dogs, hamburgers, brats, buns and condiments, bring a dish to share, along with your own beverage. No charge if you bring a dish. $5 if you do not. Rain or shine.

•Board Meeting: 7 p.m. Tuesday, Club Room at St. Hubert's Church. Everyone is invited, bring your ideas.

•Dinner at Charlie's Charhouse: 6 p.m. Sept. 7; 1180 W. Devon Ave., Elk Grove Village. R.S.V.P to Suzanne at (847) 542-1907.

Young Eagles Rally: EAA Chapter 101 invites children ages 8 to 17, who are interested in aviation, to take a free airplane ride from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday; at the Schaumburg Airport, Irving Park Road and Wright Blvd., Schaumburg. Northwest Choral Society: Auditions for the Northwest Choral Society are held on Tuesdays from September through March 25, 2008, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 855 Lee St., Des Plaines. If you are a bass, tenor, alto or a soprano with previous choral experience you are invited to audition. To schedule appointment, call Jane at (847) 438-6740.

"Les Bavards": The monthly francophone dinner group "Les Bavards" will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, for dinner and conservation in French, at a Des Plaines restaurant to practice using the language in an informal setting. Prospect Heights Garden Club: The Prospect Heights Garden Club will meet at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, at the Gary Morava Center, 110 W. Camp McDonald Road, Prospect Heights. •The Prospect Heights Garden Club will dedicate its Blue Star Memorial, a tribute to the men and women who serve/served in the Armed Forces of the United States, at 1 p.m. Sept. 30, in front of the Prospect Heights Police Station. Des Plaines Garden Club: The first meeting of the Des Plaines Garden Club for the 2007-08 season will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, at the Frisbie Senior Center, 52 E. Northwest Highway, Des Plaines. "Wild West Hoe-Down" will be the theme of the day. Dress for the occasion and bring a dish to share for the pot luck lunch. A plant auction will also be held. Club member and Master Gardener Bob Nicholson will answer your questions about gardening in the fall and winter. (847) 299-0412.

Movin' On: Movin' On, a nondenominational social group providing welcoming social situations for widowed men and women in the Northwest suburbs, will meet at 3 p.m. Sept. 7 at the Terrace Café at Arlington Race Track. Admission and program $6. Call Nina at (847) 806-7292 for reservations.
