Police seek suspect who shot Elgin man Sunday night

An Elgin man was shot in the chest Sunday night at a Glendale Heights apartment complex, authorities said.

Glendale Heights police Cmdr. Dennis Schar said the shooting victim was taken by Roselle paramedics to Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village, where he was treated and released.

"Apparently, it didn't penetrate very far," Schar said Monday. "It's all about the angles."

Schar wouldn't identify the victim, adding that the shooting is under investigation. On Monday, authorities were seeking a suspect.

Police received a call at 6:23 p.m. of a shooting victim at 590 W. Lake St., Roselle.

The man had been shot at Stonegate Apartments, on the 400 block of Gary Avenue, but ended up in a car with another person trying to find medical help, officials said.

"The person driving was looking for a hospital," Schar said. "When they couldn't find one, they called 911."
