DuPage government buildings blacked out

Power outages caused by Thursday night's thunderstorms today shut down the DuPage County government center, including the health department and courthouse.

Officials said the complex in Wheaton lost its electrical power Thursday evening, and ComEd officials were working on restoring the power.

Back-up generators are allowing the Convalescent Center, sheriff's department and jail to operate, county spokesman Jason Gerwig said.

"We're making sure they're comfortable," he said.

But in the county administrative building, it's "hot and stagnant."

Field traffic courts in Glendale Heights, Addison and Downers Grove are open.
