Police beat: Ornament taken from lawn

•Between 9:30 p.m. Tuesday and 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, somebody took a teal-colored lawn jockey ornament from a yard on the 100 block of Simpson Street. The jockey, valued at $600, is about 40 inches tall, weighs 100 pounds and has a light.
Kane County
•Telephone harassment was reported Tuesday on West Burnham Lane in Blackberry Township.
•Rodney V. McDowell, 42, of 8700 Forest Ave., Gary, Ind., was cited at 9:49 a.m. Wednesday on charges of having an overweight tractor trailer, improper lane usage and use of unsafe tires after crashing into a ditch on Route 20 just west of Switzer Road in Plato Township, police said.
•A laptop valued at $2,500 was stolen between Monday and Wednesday from 40W392 Triple Oaks Farm Drive, Rutland Township.
•A $1,000 set of golf clubs and accessories was stolen Wednesday from a vehicle at 37W959 Spring Green Way in Batavia Township.
•Telephone harassment was reported Tuesday at 46W488 Locust St., Kaneville Township.
•A mailbox and cover valued at $35 were damaged Tuesday or Wednesday at 41W337 Russell Road, Plato Township.
•A mailbox valued at $25 was damaged Thursday on Park Avenue in Dundee Township.
•A blue Yamaha all-terrain vehicle of unspecified value was reported stolen Monday from a barn at 7N778 Dittman Road, Campton Township.
St. Charles
•Garrett C. Marquis, 33, of 1529 Cottonwood Trail, Yorkville, was arrested at 10:08 p.m. Sunday and charged with speeding, drunken driving and illegal transportation of alcohol on the 800 block of Horne Street. Marquis was released on $3,000 bond with a Sept. 29 court date.
•Nine cans of baby formula valued at $215.73 were stolen Wednesday from Meijer, 855 S. Randall Road.
•A credit card was reported stolen Wednesday at Days Inn, 100 S. Tyler Road.
•Jason N. Biarnesen, 18, of 4N024 Wood Dale Road, Addison, was arrested at 2:49 a.m. Thursday on a battery charge warrant at the St. Charles police station, 2 E. State Ave., police said.
