Tryouts: The Northwest Travelers Baseball will hold 2008 team tryouts Saturday and Sunday according to the following schedule:

The tryouts will be held on the Northwest Travelers Baseball home diamond at Harper College in Palatine, (entrance off Roselle Road just north of Algonquin Road).

Mavericks tryouts:ŒThe Mount Prospect Mavericks Boys 14-and-under travel baseball team tryouts for the 2008 season will be from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday and Sunday (if necessary) at Friendship Park (Seymour and Algonquin Road). For more details, e-mail mpmavericks@yahoo.com.

Travel tryouts: The Arlington Heights Travelers baseball 14-and-under team will hold tryouts for the 2008 season from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Hersey High School J.V. field behind the school at 1900 E. Thomas, Arlington Heights. All players interested in trying out for the 14-year-old-and-under travel team must be born on or after May 1, 1993. There are no residency requirements.

Arlington Cardinals: Tryouts for the 2008 11- to 14-year-old Arlington Cardinals Full Time Baseball Club teams will be held Sunday or rescheduled in the event of rain. Tryouts are expected to last approximately three hours.

Travel tryouts: The Mid~Suburban Panthers Fastpitch Softball teams will hold initial tryouts for all levels of the 2007-08 team on Sunday at Wheeling High School Varsity Fields (Elmhurst and Hintz roads) at the following times. There are no residency requirements.

•12U to 14U -- 10 a.m. to noon.

•16U to 18U -- 12:15 to 2:45 p.m.

Tryouts after these dates for the Junior Olympic (12U to 18U) level will be by appointment only. Contact Program Director Jim Neubert for information.

Travel tryouts:ŒThe Suburban Nationals Baseball Club will hold tryouts for its 14-year-old team from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at McKenzie Field, 3900 Owl Drive, Rolling Meadows. Tryouts are open to all players born on or after May 1, 1993, and there are no residency requirement.

Fastpitch tryouts: The Elk Grove Heat, part of Elk Grove Girls Softball, which operates under the Elk Grove Park District, will hold tryouts for the 2008 season. The Heat plans to field fastpitch softball teams at the 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U and 18U levels with a goal of as many teams per level as possible. Tryouts will be held Sunday at Elk Grove High School, 500 W. Elk Grove Blvd. Call for specific times for each age group.

Mavericks tryouts: Mount Prospect Mavericks Baseball will hold 2008 team tryouts Aug. 25 and 26 according to the following schedule.

Tryouts for the 11U and 12U teams will be held at Meadows Park in Mount Prospect (on Gregory Avenue, one block east of Northwest Highway). Tryouts for the 13U team are at Lions Park in Mount Prospect (corner of Sha-Bonee Trail and Maple Avenue). Travel tryout: The Rolling Meadows Mustangs 14-and-Under Travel softball team is looking for girls to play on a highly competitive travel team for the 2008 season. Registration will be held at 1 p.m. and tryouts at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 26 at Rolling Meadows Community Center, Field No. 2 (behind Park Central), 3000 Central Road, Rolling Meadows. To be eligible, players must be ages 14 or younger on Jan. 1, 2008.
