Tryouts: The Northwest Travelers Baseball will hold 2008 team tryouts Saturday and Sunday according to the following schedule:

The tryouts will be held on the Northwest Travelers Baseball home diamond at Harper College in Palatine, (entrance off Roselle Road just north of Algonquin Road).

Travel tryouts: The Sports Academy-Northwest will hold full-time travel baseball tryouts Saturday and Sunday at Woodland Twin Ponds Park, 2500 N. Buffalo Grove Road, Buffalo Grove, at the following times.

•10-year-olds, 9 to 10:30 a.m.

•11-year-olds, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

•12-year-olds, 1 to 2:30 p.m.

•13-year-olds, 3 to 4:30 p.m.

•14-year-olds, 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Fastpitch tryouts: Illinois Chill girls fastpitch softball will hold tryouts for its 2008 summer teams on Saturday and Sunday. Tryouts are for the 18-under ASA Gold, 18-under "A," 16-under and 14-under age levels. Call the Chill tryout hotline at (847) 604-3960 for a recorded message.

Mavericks tryouts: The Mount Prospect Mavericks Boys 14-and-under travel baseball team tryouts for the 2008 season will be from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday and Sunday (if necessary) at Friendship Park (Seymour and Algonquin Road). Candidates should be properly equipped and bring their own mitts, bats and spikes. Players are restricted to Mount Prospect Park District members and Mount Prospect residents. Travel tryouts: The Arlington Heights Travelers baseball 14-and-under team will hold tryouts for the 2008 season from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Hersey High School J.V. field behind the school at 1900 E. Thomas, Arlington Heights. All players interested in trying out for the 14-year-old-and-under travel team must be born on or after May 1, 1993. There are no residency requirements.

Arlington Cardinals: Tryouts for the 2008 11- to 14-year-old Arlington Cardinals Full Time Baseball Club teams will be held Sunday or rescheduled in the event of rain. The times, location eligibility limitations and contact people are the following:

•11-year-olds, born between May 1, 1996, and April 30, 1997; 12:30 p.m.; Methodist Park; Tim Donohue, (847) 942-2706

•12-year-olds, born between May 1, 1995, and April 30, 1996; 4:30 p.m.; Heritage Park; Tom Reichel, (847) 312-5454, or Bob Napoleon, (847) 274-1249

The fees vary by team, usually ranging between $300 and $500 (depending on fundraising efforts) plus the AHYAA registration fee.

Bulldog tryouts: Bulldog Baseball will hold tryouts for 2008 season on Sunday and Sept. 9 at Redmond Recreational Complex in Bensenville at the following times: 10U, 1 p.m.; 11U, 2 p.m.; 12U, 3 p.m.; 13U, 4 p.m.; and 14U, 5 p.m. For information or questions, contact Levon Deirmenjian at (630) 514-4131 or deirm@aol.com.

Travel tryouts: The Mid~Suburban Panthers Fastpitch Softball teams will hold initial tryouts for all levels of the 2007-08 team on Sunday at Wheeling High School Varsity Fields (Elmhurst and Hintz roads) at the following times. There are no residency requirements.

•12U to 14U -- 10 a.m. to noon.

•16U to 18U -- 12:15 to 2:45 p.m.

Travel tryouts: The Suburban Nationals Baseball Club will hold tryouts for its 14-year-old team from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at McKenzie Field, 3900 Owl Drive, Rolling Meadows. Tryouts are open to all players born on or after May 1, 1993, and there are no residency requirement.

Suburban Nationals is a full-time travel team, which plays in the MSBL Travel Team Conference. The teams expect to play 50 games next season, with indoor practice beginning in January.

Travel tryout: The Rolling Meadows Mustangs 14-and-Under Travel softball team is looking for girls to play on a highly competitive travel team for the 2008 season. The schedule consists of about 45 games, including tournaments. Registration will be held at 1 p.m. and tryouts at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 26 at Rolling Meadows Community Center, Field No. 2 (behind Park Central), 3000 Central Road, Rolling Meadows. To be eligible, players must be ages 14 or younger on Jan. 1, 2008.
