Lexington to host its summer fun fest
For just a few hours Saturday, the Lexington Health Care Center of Bloomingdale will be transformed into a tropical paradise.
The health-care facility for seniors in Bloomingdale will host its annual summer festival from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the center. Everyone who works or lives in Bloomingdale is invited to the outdoor party.
Activities Director Myrna Martin said the decorations and live entertainment by the Aloha Dancers will set the mood.
Children an d residents will also be able to interact with and feed a variety of animals in the petting zoo. Fresh pop-corn, sodas, snow-cones and cotton candy will also be available.
Bloomingdale's police department and fire protection district will also have several of their vehicles on display at the festival.
Martin said each of the center's 155 residents looks forward to the festival every year.
"Our seniors need different levels of care and assistance," Martin said. "But all are involved in our programs, outings and events."
Lexington of Bloomingdale is a privately-owned health-care center specializing in a range of care needs, from short-term rehabilitation, respite and hospice through long term intermediate and skilled care.
