Audition call for Schaumburg area actors, both young and old

Auditions will be held Thursday evening for HOTT Productions' November performances of "Fiddler on the Roof" at Schaumburg's Prairie Center for the Arts.

HOTT -- which stands for Helping Others Through Theatre -- will be casting age appropriately for all roles. Kindergartners through senior citizens are invited to audition.

The auditions will take place at Keller Junior High, 820 Bode Road, Hoffman Estates.

Adults and young adults from eighth grade on up can register between 6:45 and 7 p.m. to audition from 7 to 9:45 p.m.

They will be taught a song and dance combination during this time. Dress appropriately and come prepared to sing and move. Bring a non-returnable photo and resume.

Children from kindergarten through seventh grade can register from 4:45 to 5 p.m. to audition from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Callbacks will be two days later -- on Aug. 25 -- by invitation only.

For more information, call (847) 650-4688.

The production itself will run Nov. 2 to 10 at the Prairie Center in Schaumburg. Tickets are already on sale at (847) 895-2828.

Volunteers needed: The Resale Shop, which is an important fundraiser for the work of Kenneth Young Center in Elk Grove Village, is looking for people to help.

According to Kenneth Young, it's also a wonderful place to do good, make friends, accomplish much and get first dibs on interesting merchandise at 1150 S. Roselle Road, Schaumburg.

It's great for couples and families, high school volunteers seeking credits, retired people and men, women and kids.

There are openings from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday evenings.

You can volunteer once a week or every other week.

The center also needs cashiers and people willing to come in to work on displays.

Tickets cost $6 at the door or may be purchased in advance at the CRC's north registration counter.

The show will feature a variety of acts, including dance, drama, vocal and instrumental entries. Schaumburg's Time Travelers Theater Ensemble will serve as master of ceremonies.
