Crash victim was drunk:
A 43-year-old Streamwood man was drunk when he was killed by a hit-and-run driver on June 9, Kane County Coroner Chuck West said Wednesday. Raymond Guthrie had a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.242, more than three times the legal limit, West said. A coroner's jury ruled Wednesday that Guthrie's death was accidental. He was struck while on foot at 11:22Ȧp.m. June 9 near Route 59 just north of Schaumburg Road in Streamwood and died of blunt pelvic and chest trauma at Sherman Hospital in Elgin a short time later. Police have described the vehicle that struck Guthrie as a 1994 or 1995 green Jeep Wrangler that likely had its front end damaged by the crash. Police ask anyone with information about the incident to call (630) 736-3700.

Once trained, tutors are matched with a student for tutoring at a time and place of their choosing.
Parks need volunteers:
The Carpentersville parks committee seeks volunteers to help clean bricks that will be used to build a path through McNamee Park. The parks committee meets from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday evenings at the Spring Street Public Works Facility, next to the Fire Station at 213 Spring St. Volunteers are asked to bring gloves and a claw hammer to remove cement and dirt from the bricks, which were salvaged from beneath Main Street Bridge during last summer's reconstruction project.
Huntley nets finance award:
For the fourth year in a row, the Government Finance Officers Association has given Huntley a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the village's Fiscal Year 2005 audit. Fewer than 2 percent of towns nationwide receive the award, Huntley's auditor said. The award allows Huntley to obtain a better credit rating and borrow money more readily and at a better interest rate. "It gives us a great opportunity in the debt market," Huntley Finance Director Jennifer Chernak said.
