Ignite Chicago: "Ignite Chicago: A Music Fest to Spark a Revolution" will be held from noon until 10 p.m. today at Alexian Fields, 1999 S. Springinsguth Road in Schaumburg. The Elgin Christian rock band, BarlowGirl, will be performing at 4:05 p.m. Performers include: TruEmotion at noon; Vicki Beeching at 12:30 p.m.; John Reuben at 1:10 p.m.; Seventh Day Slumber at 2 p.m.; Tree 63 at 3 p.m.; Rebecca St. James at 5:25 p.m.; Compassion Speech at 6:25 p.m.; David Crowder Band at 6:50 p.m.; and Casting Crowns at 8:30 p.m. Ignite Chicago's KidZone will feature G-Force inflatable games and the G-Force bungee jump. Cost is $10 for an all-day wristband or $7 for a bungee jump; cost of a bungee jump is $5 with a wristband. Tickets are $30 for adults or $20 for youth, age 12 and younger. St. Paul welcomes minister: In July, St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Elgin welcomed the Rev. David Ezekiel as the new interim minister. On July 8, Ezekiel led the worship, and then he and his wife, Janet, joined the congregation for a luncheon held in the fellowship hall. Members of St. Paul's are excited to have the pastor here and look forward to working with him as the congregation continues to work together to discern God's plans for their future. Ezekiel comes to St. Paul's from the Presbytery of Chicago where he has served as the associate executive presbyter for Congregational Development. The pastor and his wife, both natives of Alabama, make their home in Bartlett.

Avalanche Ranch: Living Waters Lutheran Church, 1808 Miller Road in Crystal Lake, offers the vacation Bible school, "Avalanche Ranch" Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon with a snack provided or 5:30 to 8 p.m. with light supper provided. Enrollment per session is limited to 100, kindergarten to sixth-graders and 30 for children, age 3 to pre-kindergarten. They must be potty trained; no diapers. This is a great time with lively songs and skits, creative crafts, exciting games, and Bible stories. Call the church at (815) 455-2424 for registration information.

VBS at First Christian: First Christian Church, 1125 Summit St. in Elgin, offers vacation Bible school for children, age 2 to 12, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The kids can "Learn How We Can Be Heroes for God." Come out for Game Day 2007. For details, call (847) 742-4340.

Annual barbecue: The First Congregational Church of Huntley's annual Faye's Pork Chop Barbecue will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m. July 28. This community event includes Faye's famous pork chops and/or chicken, a full dinner, dessert and entertainment on the grassy lot at the corner of Main and Myrtle streets. Enter from Main Street. Everyone is invited. Tickets are $10 ($11 after July 25) and may be purchased from the church office at (847) 669-3691, Huntley Collision at (847) 669-5260, or Huntley Travel at (847) 669-8900. Tickets also are available at the church's craft booth from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday mornings, located on Church Street across from the square. Carry-outs will be available. Walk-in tickets may be purchased at the dinner, as available, for the price of $11, but purchasing sooner is recommended.

5th Sunday Fine Arts Festival: Enjoy a celebration of music, dance and art from 6 to 8 p.m. July 29 at Barrington United Methodist Church, 98 Algonquin Road (at Route 59). The church will host its first "5th Sunday Fine Arts Festival" featuring everything from fine and visual arts from 6 to 7 p.m., and performance arts, including painting and sculpting, instrumental and vocal music, dancing, acting and dramatic reading from the multi-talented congregation from 7 to 8 p.m.. RescueZone!: New Life Baptist Church in Lake in the Hills will offer "RescueZone! Saved by God's Power" from 6 to 9 p.m. Aug. 6-10. Admission is free.
