Grace Church in Elburn to host Nature Camp for kids in July

Children have an innate curiosity about God's creation and the natural world around them. Their sense of wonder encourages exploration and discovery. What better way to foster their learning and understanding than to enroll them in Nature Camp?

So, what is Nature Camp? It is a five-day combination science camp and vacation Bible school for children ages 4 to 11, hosted by Grace Church in Elburn. The camp runs 9 to 11:45 a.m. Monday to Friday, July 16-20, at the church, 200 N. Main St., Elburn.

Each year, the camp focuses on a different aspect of nature (rocks, water, sunlight, plants) and relates those discoveries of nature with the teaching of God's Word. The theme for this year is "Wonderful Water!"

The purpose of Nature Camp is to develop an awareness of God's creation by teaching age-appropriate concepts and principles of the natural world, and then relating them to spiritual principles found in the Bible.

The themed-program is designed for 2½ each morning of the week. Corresponding nature and Bible lessons are presented in a large-group setting. The main concepts learned that day are reinforced by small-group activities that include projects, crafts, memory work and discussion.

Children will learn about nature and grow in their understanding of who God is while making new friends, interacting with the outdoors, singing songs, and creating fun crafts.

At the end of the week, there is a Friday evening program for the parents featuring the children singing and sharing all they have learned during the camp. There will be refreshments along with a time to visit and see the craft displays.

Cost is $14 or $40 per family. To register your child for Nature Camp, call the church office at (630) 934-5003, or download a registration form at grace-elburn.org.
