Woodland Schools Receive PBIS Gold and Silver Recognitions

Woodland Community Consolidated School District 50 is honored to be recognized for its efforts in Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports by the Midwest PBIS Network, an organization that supports state, local and community agencies working to prevent problem behaviors and promote positive school cultures.

PBIS Gold Status Recognition was bestowed upon Woodland Elementary East, West and Intermediate schools while PBIS Silver Status Recognition was awarded to Woodland Primary and Middle schools. More than 400 Illinois schools participated in the process to be recognized for efforts during the 2017-2018 school year.

Woodland implemented the district-wide behavioral framework in 2010. The main objective of PBIS is to establish the behavioral supports and social culture needed for all students in a school to achieve social, emotional, behavioral and academic success. Woodland introduced its ROAR program to align with the PBIS framework. ROAR represents Respect, Ownership, Acceptance and being Ready to learn.

To earn Gold Status, 80 to 90 percent of the students in a school have zero to one office discipline referrals for the year.

"PBIS is part of our culture every day at Woodland and we are very proud of the daily support provided by each of our schools. Our students succeed in making good choices thanks to the support and leadership from the PBIS teams at each school," said Associate Superintendent of Education Dr. Lori Casey.
