Bethlehem Lutheran-Dundee donates to FISH Food Pantry

Martha Lehman, representing the Women's Guild at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Dundee, recently presented its donation to FISH Food Pantry in Carpentersville.

The check donation was held at the pantry's new expanded facility with FISH Food Pantry president Miles Nakashima and past president Mary Graziano.

Each year, the church's Women's Guild sponsors a "Dickens' Soup, Salad and Sandwich Luncheon" fundraiser for festival-goers at the Dickens in Dundee Parade.

Every cent taken in goes to the food pantry. This is possible because the food is completely funded through grants, food donations and a bake sale held the same day as the luncheon.

Volunteers, led by Lehman, mostly from Bethlehem but also some from the community, decorate the church fellowship hall and prepare and serve the food.

The Dundee Township Historical Society holds its annual Dickens of a Christmas Sale of Christmas decorations and Christmas items in an adjacent room.

So mark your calendar to come out and enjoy the celebration and support your local organizations this Christmas.
