Enjoy love songs, Broadway tunes at Sunday's Music in the Gallery

Before bidding adieu to February, the Music in the Gallery series will bring you an afternoon of love songs by soprano Solange Soir of Elgin and tenor Franco Martorana of Schaumbug, accompanied on the piano by Dr. Chaiyi Lee of Batavia.

Come enjoy all-time favorites and standards from musical theater, Italian songs and opera in "Soiree Lyrique: From Broadway to Opera."

The performance will be held from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, at Norris Cultural Arts Center, 1040 Dunham Road, St. Charles.

On Saturday, March 3, musician, musicologist, storyteller and nationally syndicated radio host Bill McGlaughlin brings a live version of his much-loved radio program, "Exploring Music," to the Norris theater at 7:30 p.m. in a unique exploration of American musical titan, Leonard Bernstein.

At 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 23, the internationally acclaimed NIU Steelband returns to the Norris theater in full force for a rousing evening of steel pan music, appealing to music lovers of all ages and tastes. Created in 1973 as the first band of its kind at an American university, the NIU Steelband has played throughout the U.S. and around the world.
