MCCD to host public meeting on luxury camping experience at Fox Bluff

The McHenry County Conservation District will host two public information meetings to present a proposal that involves creating a luxury camping experience at Fox Bluff Conservation Area, 1889 Cary-Algonquin Road in Cary, formerly known as Camp Algonquin.

The meetings will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, at Riverfront Lodge, 216 River Road in Trout Valley and 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, at Prairieview Education Center, 2112 Behan Road in Crystal Lake.

Neighbors and members of the public can learn about the proposed luxury camping experience, meet the co-founders of Modcamp LLC and ask questions about the concept.

This public/private partnership under consideration would offer a new opportunity and outdoor recreational experience to McHenry County; facilitate the ecological restoration of a site, the restoration of the Board of Trade Recreation Hall for events/activities, and allow for the removal of structures already identified and approved for demolition.

The public/private partnership also identifies using private funds to help accelerate opening portions of the site improvements as identified in the site master plan.
