Library Invites Parents and Caregivers to Preschool Open House

Children ages 0 to eight years have the opportunity to attend four adaptive programs in February and March at the Schaumburg Township District Library, 130 S. Roselle Rd., Schaumburg. The following free programs include a visual schedule, books, soft music and lighting and movement activities. Supports such as fidget toys and noise reduction earmuffs are available. Parents and caregivers may call (847) 923-3439 to tell the library of any accommodation requirements.

Adaptive Storytime, for ages 3-6 years, will take place from 1-1:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 4 in the Storytime Room. Children with autism spectrum disorders, sensory processing issues, or who are differently-abled will hear stories read aloud.

Adaptive Play Group, for ages 0-6 years, will be held from 1:30-2:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 4 in the Craft Room. This program is for children receiving or being considered for therapy services, along with their families.

Autism Movement Therapy, for ages 3-8, will take place in two sessions on Wednesdays, Feb. 12 and March 11, in the Program Room. Ages 3-6 may join the session scheduled from 6-6:30 p.m., and ages 6-8 are invited to participate from 6:30-7 p.m. This movement program is designed for children with autism spectrum disorders, sensory processing issues, or who are differently-abled, and will be led by Autism Movement Therapy Certified Provider Wanda Lee Farnell. Activities will support problem solving, speech, social, gross and fine motor skills through movement and craft.

Adaptive Puppet Show, for ages 3-6 years, is scheduled from 10 - 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 27 in the Craft Room. This puppet show is designed for children with autism spectrum disorders, sensory processing issues or who are differently-abled.
