Learn CPR at Centegra classes

When someone's heart stops beating, their survival depends on immediately getting CPR. Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center is empowering community members to deliver those lifesaving chest compressions with CPR classes.

Sudden cardiac arrest occurs when the heart malfunctions unexpectedly and stops beating. Almost 90 percent of people who suffer cardiac arrests outside of hospitals die, according to the American Heart Association. When CPR is performed in the first few minutes of cardiac arrest, the person's chance of survival can double or triple.

Community members can learn adult, child and infant cardiopulmonary resuscitation and how to use an automated external defibrillator at courses at the Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center in Crystal Lake and Huntley. An AED is a portable device that can be used to treat sudden cardiac arrest by sending an electric shock to the heart to try to restore a normal heart rhythm.

Upcoming classes are scheduled at Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center-Crystal Lake, 200 Congress Parkway, and Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center-Huntley, 10450 W. Algonquin Road, including:
