MCCD offers 'Nature in November'

The McHenry County Conservation District will offer "Nature in November" events. Visit the district's website at www.MCCDistrict.org to view all program and event offerings or sign up to receive the seasonal magazine Landscapes. Register online, by phone for free programs only at (815) 479-5779, by mail-in and drop-off at Prairieview Education Center, 2112 Behan Road in Crystal Lake, or drop-off only at Lost Valley Visitor Center, Route 31 and Harts Road in Ringwood.

Night Sounds and Turkey Talk:

It will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, at Stickney Run Conservation Area, 3216 W. State Park Road, McHenry. Here's your chance to enjoy one of our sites after sunset, when it would normally be closed. Come out for a self-guided night hike on a designated trail at Stickney Run Conservation Area. One of the MCCD staff will greet you and provide you with some information about the site and what you can expect to see and hear on your hike. Hike is free and geared for adults and families. No registration is required for this free drop-in program, but check before you go; cancellations may occur due to weather or staff emergencies. Check under Site Advisories at MCCDistrict.org or in the online registration system.

Family Night - Turkey Talk:

Bring the whole family for an evening of games and other activities all based on the topic of wild turkeys from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, at Lost Valley Visitor Center in Glacial Park, Route 31 and Harts Road, Ringwood. Program for adults and families is free for county residents and $5 for nonresidents. Registration deadline is Friday, Nov. 17.
