Guest historian Barry Bradford to lecture on Alexander Hamilton

McHenry County College will host Barry Bradford, nationally-recognized speaker and award-winning historian, who will present "Hamilton: The Man, Miranda, and the Musical," a multimedia presentation from 12:30 to 2 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, in the MCC Luecht Conference Center at the college, 8900 Route 14 in Crystal Lake.

Bradford's presentation will examine how an 818-page biography of America's first secretary of the treasury, Alexander Hamilton, would become one of the biggest Broadway smashes of all time. Bradford will talk about the life of the real Alexander Hamilton and his place in American history. He will also unveil the life and work of Lin-Manuel Miranda, the composer and playwright who created and starred in the Broadway smash hit musical, "Hamilton."

"I can tell you that the show more than lives up to its hype," Bradford said. "This is an amazing work of genius - a combination of history, music, performances and thought-provoking content that will long be considered a hallmark in the history of Broadway."

The lecture is free and open to the public. Walk-ins are welcome; no registration is required.
