Sign up for 'Folks on Spokes: A Community Bicycle Adventure!'

On Sunday, Sept. 10, the Elburn Chamber of Commerce will host the third annual "Folks on Spokes: A Community Bicycle Adventure!"

Riders may begin at either Blackberry Creek Elementary School, 1122 Anderson Road, or John Stewart Elementary School, 817 Prairie Valley St.

There will be three different ride distances: 2.5 miles, 6 miles, and 10.5 miles. Along each route there will be water stops; snack stations; and exciting sites to see, such as the magical Field of Dreams, Dr. Seuss Pond, and Star Wars Hill!

The 2.5-mile ride will be on bike paths only, so it is safe for even the youngest riders. The 6- and 10.5-mile rides will cross Keslinger Road using the Anderson Road bike path, pass through downtown Elburn, and return to the bike path to end at the elementary schools.

Maps for each route will be posted on the event Facebook page, www.facebook.com/folksonspokes.

Registration fees are $14 or $10 for children, age 12 and younger. All proceeds from this year's event will be donated to the Kaneland Performing Arts Boosters. The Boosters are a nonprofit organization supporting the band, choir and theater programs at Kaneland High School and Kaneland Harter Middle School. These programs are important and valued parts of our community, and "Folks on Spokes" is an opportunity to show your support and appreciation for all they do.

The ride will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10. Riders may begin anytime after 10 a.m., and must complete their route by 2 p.m. You can register online at raceroster.com/events/2017/12940/folks-on-spokes or download a registration form at www.elburn.com. For more information, call the Elburn Chamber of Commerce at (630) 365-2295, or visit www.facebook.com/folksonspokes.
