Batavia's Immanuel Church and School welcomes new pastor

This weekend, Immanuel Lutheran Church and School in Batavia welcomes the Rev. Christopher Davis and his family. Pastor Chris will be installed as Immanuel's new full-time discipleship pastor during a special service at 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 6, at the church, 950 Hart Road in Batavia.

A welcome reception follows immediately after the service. The community is invited to attend and meet the newest member of the Immanuel staff.

Pastor Chris, his wife, Heather, and kids Eli and Rose come to Batavia from the Seattle area, where he served as pastor for the previous 17 years. Originally from Michigan, he studied at Western Michigan University and Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, and was ordained as a Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod pastor in 2000.

Pastor Chris is excited to begin his work here and describes himself as someone blessed with a "light, joyful heart," who is anxious to meet and interact with the folks at Immanuel, as well as the those in the surrounding communities.

In his role at Immanuel, Pastor Chris will focus mainly on the areas of small group ministry, mentoring and empowerment, and developing ministry opportunities beyond Immanuel's Hart Road campus; in addition to leading worship and preaching. His outgoing personality, passion for Jesus, creativity, and wealth of leadership experience complement the capabilities of the existing staff at Immanuel Lutheran Church and School.
