Great day for a great cause
A beautiful February day provided the framework for the 2017 Lutherbrook Bowl-A-Rama. More than 300 people participated in the event, which raised more than $32,000.
The funds raised through Bowl-A-Rama support Lutherbrook Child and Adolescent Center, a program of Lutheran Child and Family Services of Illinois. Lutherbrook youth have experienced multiple complex traumas in their young lives, many have had numerous foster care and other placements and have struggled to be successful in family and community living.
At Lutherbrook, youth begin the process of healing. They receive therapy to work through their past traumas, develop coping skills to ensure positive future outcomes and engage in activities that build their own strengths.
Most importantly, youth at Lutherbrook learn to connect with others, begin to trust again and feel that they belong.
After their stay at Lutherbrook, the majority of youth go to live in a family setting and are able to sustain that placement. Unfortunately state funding does not cover the entire cost of providing this transformational care and private support is crucial.
New Lutherbrook Executive Director Reggie Fuller was on-hand for Bowl-A-Rama. He took the opportunity to get acquainted with Lutherbrook supporters and bowled a few frames with Lutherbrook youth.
Donna McCaleb, vice president of Presenting Sponsor Noland Sales, discussed her company's participation in Bowl-A-Rama, "For many years Noland Sales Corp. has had the privilege to help underwrite the Lutherbrook Bowl-A-Rama. We feel that Lutherbrook is a worthwhile endeavor because they provide so much for the youth who desperately need a leg up in preparation for adulthood."
Thank you to everyone involved: Bowlers, volunteers, staff, Bowl-A-Rama committee, Stardust Bowl, the many supporters and of course, the sponsors:
