MCC to offer new Retired Adult Program offerings

McHenry County College's Retired Adult Program will offer many new classes this winter for adults ages 50 and better who enjoy learning just for fun. RAP is a membership-based, non-credit program that costs $25 for a one-year membership, renewable every June 1. To register for a RAP membership, use course code NRA C01 007.

Jesse James -American Outlaw:

Presented by Michael McCann. Outlaw Jesse James has become a legend in American folk lore. Learn about the many areas of "expertise" associated with this outlaw, murderer, organized crime boss, and train robber. Members will discuss how, and why he is considered an anti-hero and legend. Cost is $12. Class takes place from 1 to 2:20 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2 in Room A211. To register, use course code NRA S65 006.

The Great Communicator:

The Life of Ronald Reagan. Presented by Jim Gibbons. Reagan's style and wit could charm everyone, but his leadership qualities were as hard as nails. Lifeguard, radio sportscaster, movie and television star, Governor of the State of California, and finally, our 40th president, Reagan was always in the limelight. People listened when he spoke. His speaking style earned him his title, "The Great Communicator." Cost is $15. Class takes place from 1 to 2:20 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6 in Room A211. To register, use course code NRA S27 006.

The Enron Scandal:

Presented by Steve Jahnke C.P.A., MCC accounting instructor. Enron was one of the worst business failures in American history. Explore what led to the bankruptcy of the Enron Corporation, which at its peak, was worth more than $70 billion. The scandal also led to the dissolution of one of the largest audit and accountancy partnerships in the world, Arthur Andersen. Explore the reasons behind the fraud, the schemes companies used to hide their massive debt, plus the take down of its chief associates. Cost is $12.
