The Eli Skinner N.S.D.A.R. Chapter chose to become a Commemorative Partner with the Department of Defense and has pledged to assist this Nation in properly thanking and honoring our Vietnam Veterans and their families as our country joins together to raise awareness of the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War. Over 300,000 Vietnam War Veterans were recipients of the Purple Heart. The Vietnam War brought over 58,000 casualties. The state of Illinois has the fifth highest number of Vietnam War casualties with 2,951 Illinois patriots lost.

At this 50th anniversary, Our Nation is tasked to tell every Vietnam Veteran's story as it should have been told to begin with. It's an opportunity to set the record straight. History will honor their service, and their names will join those who have given service to our country for over two centuries. The Eli Skinner N.S.D.A.R. Chapter thanked the Vietnam Veterans for their service, for all the sacrifices they made on behalf our Nation and for being tolerant of our ignorance, and thank you for preserving the freedoms that we too often take for granted.
