Learn about 'Hamilton: The Man Behind the Musical'

Discover the truth about the real Alexander Hamilton, learn why he was the most important founding father after George Washington, and why the hit Broadway show is making such a man so popular.

McHenry County College will host "Hamilton - the Man Behind the Musical," an educational presentation from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, in the Luecht Conference Center in Building B at McHenry County College, 8900 Route 14 in Crystal Lake.

McHenry County College history instructor Sarah Sullivan will share a riveting tale of Hamilton's life. He was born illegitimate and poor in the West Indies, and died as one of the most significant players of the United States Revolutionary movement. What happened in between? Join Sullivan as she traces his steps from the West Indies to become George Washington's most trusted confidant and moved into his role as the first Treasury Secretary, and finally, to his tragic end in a duel with the dastardly Aaron Burr.

"We will look at the myth and the man, including his sex scandals," Sullivan said. "This presentation is a great primer for anyone with tickets to "Hamilton! The Musical" or who wants to learn more about the most interesting person of the Revolutionary era."
