The DuPage County Health Department is investigating multiple cases of MRSA, a type of staph infection, at Naperville Central High School, according to ABC 7. School officials said two students were confirmed, treated and now cleared of MRSA infections, ABC 7 reported, and nursing staff members consulted with the health department and followed proper cleaning protocols. Official: Willowbrook High School student dies after 'medical emergency'

Willowbrook High School student Abdul Jalal died Monday afternoon after suffering a medical emergency, according to a school spokeswoman yesterday. Dani Brink, the director of community relations for DuPage High School District 88, said Abdul was at the school when the medical emergency began and people rushed to his aid within seconds. Lou Malnati's deal will fuel expansion

Northbrook-based Lou Malnati's Pizzeria said yesterday it will fuel expansion plans with an equity investment from BDT Capital Partners, the first time a nonfamily member has taken an ownership share. Gail's Carriage Inn opens Arlington Heights location

The Honeyberry Cafe closed earlier this year after three years of serving breakfasts and lunches in Arlington Heights, but a new breakfast restaurant already is open in its place. Gail's Carriage Inn, which also has locations in Des Plaines and Buffalo Grove, opened at 306 E. Rand Road in Arlington Heights shortly after Honeyberry Cafe closed its doors. Full story.

Rolling Meadows Jewel will get Starbucks; MingHin Cuisine now open

The Jewel-Osco on Kirchoff Road in Rolling Meadows will be among 15 of the chain's stores to install a Starbucks kiosk between now and the end of January. Most of the new Starbucks locations will take the place of former TCF Bank kiosks that have moved out, said Melissa Hill, director of public affairs and government relations for Jewel-Osco. Winfield Police searching for man who attempted to abduct girl

Winfield Police are searching for a man who attempted to abduct a girl near the intersection of Geneva Road and Mission Court yesterday afternoon. According to the girl, the man was between 25 and 30 years old, white and had medium-length wavy brown hair. The man was wearing dark blue jeans, a black T-shirt and a royal blue baseball hat. Libertyville man charged with drug possession

A 24-year-old Libertyville man was charged with a series of drug possession offenses Tuesday, according to the Libertyville Police Department. Police searched the home of Rodrigo A. Rojas, on the 1500 block of West Park Ave., and found 20 grams of cocaine, 100 hits of LSD, 60 grams of hallucinogenic mushrooms and 235 Xanax pills, according to a news release from Libertyville police. Man airlifted to hospital after crashing into tree in Campton Hills

A man had to be airlifted to the hospital from the scene of a one-car crash in Campton Hills yesterday afternoon, according to authorities. Capt. Matt Starr of the South Elgin Fire Department said two people were injured when a vehicle crashed into a tree just west of the intersection of McDonald Road and Phar Lap Drive in Campton Hills around 4:45 p.m. Full story.
